Electrically powered, self-propelled universal passenger stairs with integrated PRM (passengers with reduced mobility) system, enabling safe embarkation and disembarkation of passengers in wheelchairs or unable to climb stairs. Universal passenger stairs feature an operator’s station on the platform and an electric drive on the rear axle, providing precise maneuvering and positioning on the apron. The patented parallelogram staircase with automatic inclination control delivers maximum platform reach across the full height range.
The integrated PRM Lifter is a dedicated mobility assistance system that allows safe boarding and disembarkation of passengers with reduced mobility via the same passenger stairs. Mounted on the staircase structure and running on its own rail, it provides controlled vertical travel from ground level to aircraft door height for passengers, including those in wheelchairs, without transfers.
Step surfaces are illuminated with LED lighting to ensure secure footing in all conditions, while handrails are fully integrated into the staircase sides for continuous support. The sliding platform floor is decoupled from the rest of the platform, reducing the risk of contact and damage to the aircraft fuselage or door frame. An LCD display at the operator’s post offers a clear, intuitive interface, presenting the current status of the stairs, operating instructions, key information and diagnostics at a glance.
The vehicle is built on a robust steel structure using profiles and tubes, forming the backbone for the drive axle, stabilizers, staircase and lifting system. This heavy‑duty design ensures long service life and stable operation, even in demanding airport environments.
A modular design concept with a broad range of options lets each unit be configured to specific customer requirements. Available options include a "solar range extender", auto‑following functionality and assisted docking systems, including ADPS in line with IATA guidelines. Customers can specify color according to the RAL chart and define logo size and placement to match their corporate identity.
These passenger stairs are engineered and manufactured to a high quality standard, carry the CE mark, and comply with relevant EN standards and IATA recommendations.
